The weirdest excuses for being late for work

Being on time for work is not always an easy task. 1 in 4 employees admit they do that at least once a month, and 13 percent say it's a weekly event. That's according to a new study. Rather than blaming typical traffic problems or public transportation woes, some employees are becoming more creative with their motivations. Here are the most bizarre excuses that have come up in the research:

I was thinking of quitting my job today but decided not to, so I came late.
My hair caught fire from my hair dryer.
I was held by security.
I had to chase my cows back into the field.
A black bear entered my carport and I decided to take a nap on the hood of my car.
My lizard had to have emergency surgery in the morning and died during surgery. I was grieving.
There was fresh snow on the hill. I had to go skiing.
There was a store grand opening and I wanted to see the opening day sales.
I had to watch “My Name is Earl.”
All my clothes were stolen.
I was confused by the time change and wasn't sure if it was "spring ahead" or "fall back".
A Vaseline truck overturned on the highway and the cars skidded left and right.
