School calls and you are at work; you're scared shit

Spaghetti in your ear!? No, I don't mean East Indian deaf but real spaghetti. The day starts as a normal weekday. Hubby is already at work. Brought the kids to school and I drive to work. My working day is packed with appointments. Everything is running fine, but then my phone rings. The school is calling! I'm shocked because it's my oldest son's teacher.

Nervouswhen school calls

Hey…. do I hear a little doubt on the phone? With Corry, Mark's teacher. I think… oh my gosh what's coming next. While stuttering, the teacher tells that an accident has happened in the class. And then it is of course normal for the school to call. Tell me, this makes me nervous. Well eh eh… we were tinkering for Father's Day and now Mark has a piece of spaghetti in his ear. Spaghetti!! I have to laugh a lot, it sounds so weird. Spaghetti in his ear. My thoughts are, it will all be okay, just tilt your head and it will fall out.

But…. says the teacher… Klaas poked a piece of spaghetti in Mark's ear and he curled up and started to cry. Mark never cries, so it's serious. This really doesn't sound good. What a strange action by Klaas, I say. You know what, I'll call the doctor right away, hear what he says.

Well, and then you're at work

I tell the doctor what happened and we can come right away but I'm still in the office. My mother was off today, so I called her to see if she could drive Mark to the doctor. Happy. She can. So Mark and grandma off to the doctor.

The assistant looks into Mark's ear, this doesn't look good. The doctor should take a look at this himself. Mark and grandma are startled. The doctor also sees that it is not good and takes a pair of tweezers. Mark is in a lot of pain, the doctor says comfortingly that he is doing very well. What a tough guy! She goes with the tweezers in his ear and quickly grabs the piece. They look at the piece of spaghetti that has been placed on the treatment table. It is a 4 cm piece with blood and the tip is completely soft. This is just cooked, NOW SAY! The stick has caused a hole in his eardrum with all its consequences. Well, nice then.

The Father's Day gift they worked on turned out very beautiful, but it does have a special story.

Have you ever experienced a school call? Were you immediately nervous? And how do you deal with such a situation?
