Dad's Day, the benefits of this KAK term… uhhh day

It happens one day a week. You grab your bag, close the door and go to work. Without children, without a bag with diapers, without worries. It's daddy day. Although the term is KAK, apparently everyone understands what is meant by daddy day. Very tired of course, but we'll just deal with it.

That leaving without worries is not something that is always so obvious. Just as men have to grow in their role as fathers, mothers often have to grow again in their role as (partial) breadwinner. Fortunately, hubby generally shows that the concerns about the children are completely unfounded. The one about the household, however, is less so. We list the experience of daddy day and its benefits for you.

Daddy's Day, how women experience it

When mom comes home after a day of work, the kids are sitting in the middle of the room between all the breakfast and lunch plates. Are the leftovers of those meals completely spread over the floor between all the toys that seem to have been pulled out of the closet indiscriminately. And the paint drops drip off the craft rug. A bomb has exploded in the living room and you realize again that you actually have quite a lot of stuff in the house. What a mess!

The first weeks and months you get really upset about that. When you're at home, you make sure that everything stays on the side at least a little. You also do the shopping and make sure dinner is ready when hubby comes home. But you don't really have to count on all this on Father's Day. Rather to the contrary.

However, after months of annoyance, it dawns on you. You see how terribly happy your children are on the days when daddy is home alone with them. In the eyes of your child, there is finally a parent who doesn't look at whether there might be another cup in the dishwasher or who is concerned about the food. No, Daddy is there to play with, to go swimming together, to have fun with. Daddy's Day is a celebration.

You make a decision. From now on you take Jan Steen's household on Dad's Day for granted. You just close your eyes and step over all the toys. Because you know… your kids have had a fantastic day when you come home. In the end, you even decide to stay away a little longer on daddy days. Because yes, daddy day is over as soon as mom comes home again….

Daddy day according to wikipedia

The description seems to be completely correct even though it is a KAK term. It's about taking care of the kids. And dads can do that too!

The benefits of a daddy day

  1. Dad gets an equal opportunity with mom to build a beautiful bond with his child.
  2. Mom can leave things alone on a daddy day, provided she allows herself to do so.
  3. Nice to snuggle in front of the mirror, no dirty milk spat on the shoulder that you only notice when you're already at work and comfortably eat your breakfast instead of having to keep screaming children apart.
  4. If the man is a bit used to daddy day, there will always be a plate of dinner ready when you get home.
  5. On this day you can leave the thinking about dinner to the family regulator of that moment.
  6. Your husband is slowly getting more understanding of what being at home with children means. Provided, of course, that at some point he will realize that the mess that is in the house on his daddy's day seems to be missing on the days that you stay at home.
  7. You can plan necessary appointments such as the consultation office or a visit to the dentist on Father's Day. Do you have a nice 'day off' yourself.
  8. When you get home, throw your work supplies in a corner and pour yourself a nice glass of wine, while you watch the bustle around the counter.
