These are the worst first impressions made by new employees

The first day on the job can be a humiliating affair if things don't go according to plan. Nearly half of employees have had a terrible first day at a new job, with 95% stressing the importance of making a good first impression on others. This is according to a British poll of almost 3000 employees. Below are the worst first impressions made by new hires, according to new research.

1. Learned someone's name and immediately forget it

3. Was just too nervous
4. Finding I didn't have a computer/desk to work on
5. Said something stupid because of nerves
6. Arrived at the wrong work address
7. Completely overdressed compared to everyone else
8. Worn out shoes that became sore by the end of the day

11. Hearing I wasn't the 'first-choice candidate'
12. Forgot the code to get in or out of the office
